Following Shanxi Zhengwang Hydrogen Energy Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Zhengwang Hydrogen Energy), a subsidiary of Pengfei, obtaining eight national patents in 2023, Pengfei Hydrogen Energy has once again taken the lead in the industry at the start of the new year. Recently, two group standards for producing high-purity hydrogen from coke oven gas—formulated under the leadership of Zhengwang Hydrogen Energy—were officially published on the National Group Standards Information Platform and came into effect on January 10, 2024. This landmark achievement not only fills a domestic gap in standardization within the field of high-purity hydrogen production from coke oven gas but also marks a significant step forward, providing clear guidelines and benchmarks for system‑building efforts in the industry and steering it toward greater scientific rigor and standardization.

The two group standards, “Safety Technical Requirements for the Conversion Process of High-Purity Hydrogen from Coke Oven Gas” and “Energy Consumption Limits and Calculation Methods per Unit Product for Producing High-Purity Hydrogen from Coke Oven Gas,” were spearheaded by Zhengwang Hydrogen Energy, with joint participation from Southwest Chemical Design Institute, Dalian University of Technology, and numerous other design institutes, peer enterprises, and universities, thereby wielding significant influence across the industry. This means that, going forward, any enterprise seeking to produce high-purity hydrogen from coke oven gas will be required to comply with these two standards. This represents an important achievement resulting from Pengfei’s proactive response to relevant national policies and the needs of industrial development, underscoring its leading and exemplary role in advancing standardization within the hydrogen energy sector.

The development of these two group standards, which began in April 2023, was officially released after going through a series of stages—including project approval, contract signing, draft preparation, kickoff meetings, review sessions, and national submission and evaluation. These represent Pengfei’s first nationally approved group standards, helping to standardize, at the source, the technical requirements for producing ultra‑high‑purity hydrogen from coke oven gas. They will further advance low‑carbon emission reductions and technological innovation across the product’s entire life cycle, enabling Pengfei to better fulfill its role as the “chain leader” in the hydrogen energy industry chain and to collaborate with upstream and downstream enterprises to secure a leading position in the hydrogen market.

From being included in the “List of Provincial-Level Smart Manufacturing Demonstration Enterprises of Shanxi Province for 2023” to receiving an Invention Patent Certificate from the National Intellectual Property Administration for its “Hydrogen‑Producing Adsorption Tower Using Coke Oven Gas and Its Method of Use,” and further to the official publication of two group standards on producing high‑purity hydrogen from coke oven gas on the National Group Standards Information Platform, Pengfei has consistently pursued technological innovation with determination, leading the industry along the way. Looking ahead, Pengfei will continue to strengthen its enterprise standardization system, reinforce its leadership in the field of hydrogen production from coke oven gas, and accelerate the development of green hydrogen projects powered by wind, solar, and other renewable sources, thereby contributing its expertise to the formulation of next‑generation industry standards and the refinement of national standards.
