One year after the first batch of 100 hydrogen-powered heavy-duty trucks was put into demonstration operation on November 22, 2022, on December 29, a second batch of 100 second-generation hydrogen-powered heavy-duty trucks was officially launched at Pengfei. This marks a significant milestone: as the “chain leader” in the hydrogen energy industry, Pengfei has injected new green momentum into Xiaoyi City and Lüliang City’s efforts to become model hydrogen-energy cities.

Zhang Guangyong, Deputy Secretary of the Lüliang Municipal Party Committee and Mayor; Wang Jianqiang, Secretary-General of the Lüliang Municipal Government; Li Bingfeng, Party Secretary and Director of the Lüliang Municipal Bureau of Industry and Information Technology; Guo Qingzhi, Deputy Secretary of the Xiaoyi Municipal Party Committee and Mayor; Feng Guangyuan, Secretary of the Party Working Committee and Director of the Management Committee of the Xiaoyi Economic Development Zone; along with relevant leaders from the Lüliang Municipal Party and Government, the Xiaoyi Municipal Party and Government, and the Economic Development Zone; Zheng Peng, Chairman of the Board and President of Pengfei Group; representatives from partner organizations; media representatives; and more than 500 employees and cadres of Pengfei Group gathered on site to jointly witness this momentous occasion. The ceremony was presided over by Guo Qingzhi.

Guo Qingzhi extended his congratulations on the official commissioning of Pengfei’s second batch of 100 hydrogen‑powered heavy trucks (second generation). He noted that, under the coordinated planning of the Lüliang Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government, Xiaoyi has steadfastly positioned the hydrogen energy industry as a key driver of high‑quality development, firmly committed to its established goals of building a provincial‑level specialized town for hydrogen energy and cultivating a hydrogen‑energy sector worth hundreds of billions of yuan. In particular, Pengfei has shouldered the heavy responsibility of the energy transition, taking the lead at the forefront of transformation, setting an example, and seizing the opportunities in the burgeoning hydrogen‑energy market. By vigorously developing the hydrogen‑energy industry, it has initially established a comprehensive “gas–station–transport–vehicle” industrial chain, ushering in a remarkable phase of progress—from breaking the ice and getting off to a strong start to achieving full‑scale expansion.

Zheng Peng stated that, under the leadership of the Party committees and governments at both the city and county levels in Xiaoyi, Lüliang, and with strong support from various functional departments, the first batch of 100 hydrogen‑powered heavy trucks has, over the past year, accumulated more than 8 million kilometers of driving—making a significant contribution to the city’s air‑pollution control efforts and establishing Lüliang as the nation’s only demonstration site for the commercial operation of hydrogen‑powered heavy trucks. In 2023, Pengfei continued to forge close partnerships with leading enterprises across the province and beyond, deepening collaboration in technological innovation, industrial synergy, and market expansion to achieve a model of “one enterprise driving an entire industrial chain, and one chain fostering regional development.” The official launch of the second batch of 100 second‑generation hydrogen‑powered heavy trucks will help position Lüliang as a national benchmark for the independent, commercial deployment of such vehicles, while the company strives to deliver a new chapter in its commitment to supporting the green and low‑carbon transformation of energy enterprises.
