8 month 8 On [date], a symposium and signing ceremony focusing on the cutting edge of the hydrogen energy industry and its future development was solemnly held in Xiaoyi City, marking a pivotal step forward for Lüliang City in its pursuit of hydrogen‑energy industrial growth and adding a significant milestone to Shanxi Province’s strategic positioning in the new‑energy sector.

Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Professor at the School of Vehicle and Transportation Engineering of Tsinghua University, Ouyang Minggao, attended the event in person to provide strategic guidance for the development of Lüliang’s hydrogen energy industry. Yan Lin, Member of the Standing Committee of the Lüliang Municipal Party Committee and Vice Mayor, chaired the meeting and delivered a speech. Also in attendance were Guo Qingzhi, Mayor of Xiaoyi City; Feng Guangyuan, Secretary of the Party Working Committee and Director of the Management Committee of the Xiaoyi Economic Development Zone; Vice Mayor Xue Zhiqiang, and other leaders, who jointly witnessed this major event in the hydrogen energy sector.

While presenting an overview of Xiaoyi City’s economic and social development, Guo Qingzhi pointed out that, as a leading example of county-level economies in Shanxi Province, Xiaoyi is advancing its vision of “strengthening the city through industry.” Driven by the dual engines of cultural tourism and rural revitalization, significant efforts are being made to upgrade traditional industries and foster emerging sectors. As a pioneering industry for cultivating new‑type productive forces in Xiaoyi, the hydrogen energy sector has already taken the lead in deploying integrated energy islands and advancing hydrogen‑based applications. He expressed his hope that Tsinghua University and relevant enterprises will deepen their government‑industry‑university‑research collaboration with Xiaoyi, helping the city achieve greater breakthroughs in mastering core technologies and translating innovations into practical applications, thereby accelerating its transformation and development.

In his address, Yan Lin emphasized that Lüliang, as a major national energy base, has leveraged its favorable conditions and cost advantages in hydrogen production to launch a comprehensive push across the hydrogen‑energy industrial chain, thereby establishing an initial end‑to‑end development framework. As the hydrogen economy accelerates, Lüliang has seized the strategic opportunity presented by its participation in the Guangdong Fuel Cell Vehicle Demonstration Cluster, employing policy support and deepening industry–university–research collaboration to swiftly cultivate new, high‑quality productive forces in hydrogen manufacturing, turning the hydrogen‑energy sector into a vivid example of resource‑based economic transformation and the broader energy revolution.

Ouyang Minggao expressed full recognition of the achievements made by Lüliang City in developing its hydrogen energy industry. He systematically reviewed the industry’s evolution and its current characteristics, emphasizing that hydrogen energy occupies a pivotal position within the nation’s new energy system and boasts broad prospects for growth. He recommended that Lüliang leverage its unique strengths, integrate with its coal‑chemical sector, and achieve greater breakthroughs in the long‑haul transportation segment of hydrogen‑powered vehicles, thereby advancing the development of the entire hydrogen energy value chain. At the same time, he stated that Tsinghua University will fully capitalize on its technological and human‑resource advantages, deepen exchanges and cooperation with Lüliang and Xiaoyi, foster complementary synergies between academia and industry as well as between the university and local communities, and jointly contribute to the high‑quality development of the new energy sector.

At the meeting, Zheng Peng, Chairman of the Board and President of Pengfei Group, outlined the company’s progress in hydrogen energy development. Leaders from leading hydrogen‑energy firms—including Beijing E-Hualong, Yuantai Energy, and Qingchuan Yichuang—also addressed the forum, sharing cutting-edge technological solutions such as hydrogen fuel cell manufacturing and green‑energy‑based hydrogen production, thereby offering fresh perspectives for the development of Lüliang’s hydrogen economy.

Notably, the symposium yielded substantial results, with Pengfei Group signing cooperation agreements with companies including Beijing E-Hualong. Moving forward, the parties will engage in in-depth collaboration across multiple fronts—joint technological R&D, product performance enhancement, integration of industrial-chain resources, expansion of hydrogen‑energy application markets, and procurement, sales, and distribution—thereby injecting fresh momentum into the development of Lüliang’s hydrogen‑energy industry.

In recent years, Lüliang City has achieved remarkable progress in developing the hydrogen energy industry, leveraging its abundant energy resources and robust industrial base. It has already established… 7.6 Ten-thousand-ton hydrogen production capacity, 11 The hydrogen refueling station has been completed and put into operation, with an annual output of… 1000 A production line for hydrogen-powered commercial vehicles has been commissioned, and nearly… hydrogen-powered vehicles have been promoted. 600 A preliminary full‑industry‑chain development system encompassing “hydrogen production–refueling stations–transportation–vehicles–end‑use” has taken shape, and the city’s hydrogen‑energy development index ranks first in Shanxi Province. The successful convening of this symposium and signing ceremony will further integrate resources from all stakeholders, accelerate technological innovation and the commercialization of research outcomes, elevate Lüliang’s hydrogen‑energy industry to new heights, and help Shanxi achieve high‑quality development in the new‑energy sector—providing a “Lüliang model” for the nationwide advancement of the hydrogen‑energy industry.
