In the golden autumn of September, the fragrance of sweet osmanthus fills the air. On September 21, the 5G Conference Hall of Pengfei Group was neat and bright, buzzing with a lively atmosphere, as the First Session of the Fourth Members’ Congress of the Shanxi Provincial Environmental and Resource Protection Association convened successfully. More than 100 leaders, experts, and association representatives—including Wang Shouying, Second-Level Inspector of the Provincial Department of Civil Affairs; Xue Zhiqiang, Vice Mayor of Xiaoyi City; and Zheng Peng, Chairman of the Board and President of Pengfei Group—gathered to jointly inject “green momentum” and bolster “green impetus” into Shanxi’s environmental protection efforts in the new era.
The Shanxi Provincial Environmental and Resource Protection Association is a legally registered social organization with legal person status, established in May 2007. Its first president was Du Wu’an, former Vice Governor of Shanxi Province. In 2015, it was recognized as the only Chinese social organization in its sector in Shanxi to hold a 4A rating. Guided by the national policy of conserving resources and protecting the environment, the Association focuses on promoting low‑carbon, green development in Shanxi. It brings together scientists, entrepreneurs, and other visionaries committed to environmental protection, serving its members, enterprises, and government bodies. By continuously fostering internal vitality and momentum for growth, the Association has effectively advanced environmental protection and the comprehensive utilization of resources in Shanxi, contributing to the province’s efforts to build a resource‑efficient, environmentally friendly society and a beautiful Shanxi.
The association integrates its role as a bridge and link into the national development strategy, establishing an international platform for technical cooperation on environmental and resource protection. It has forged a global network spanning trade, investment and financing, production, and services, facilitating connections and guiding member organizations and Shanxi-based enterprises to actively participate in the Belt and Road Initiative and China’s ASEAN‑10+1 development strategy, thereby contributing to Shanxi’s high‑quality economic growth and the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
The General Assembly adopted, by way of deliberation and voting, the report on the work of the Association’s Third Council, the Articles of Association of the Shanxi Provincial Environmental and Resource Protection Association, and the Rules for the Election at the First Session of the Fourth Members’ Congress, among other items. It also elected Zheng Peng as President of the Association’s Fourth Council.
Zheng Peng expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the trust and support of all members, noting that, as the chair unit of the fourth council, Pengfei Group has consistently upheld the principle that “national strategy is Pengfei’s paramount strategy, and the pace of the times is the direction of Pengfei’s progress,” thereby achieving a strategic leap from traditional energy to new energy and from conventional industries to emerging ones. Moving forward, the new leadership team of the association’s fourth council will remain true to its original aspirations, shoulder heavy responsibilities with courage, and take proactive action. Grounded in the association’s mandate and leveraging its distinctive strengths, it will adhere to Xi Jinping’s Thought on Ecological Civilization, firmly embrace the philosophy that “lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets,” and pursue the goals of environmental and energy conservation, serving the government, society, and the industry. It will fully fulfill its role as a bridge and link between the government and enterprises, focusing on building a beautiful Shanxi, cultivating professional talent, developing information-sharing platforms, and promoting education and publicity on ecological civilization. By ensuring high‑level environmental protection, it will underpin high‑quality development, striving tirelessly to safeguard Shanxi’s blue skies, flowing green waters, and enduring green mountains, and to build a beautiful Shanxi.
