U.S.-based ConocoPhillips enters Xiaoyi and Pengfei to jointly pursue hydrogen energy development.

On July 11, Hu Kaicheng, Vice President of ConocoPhillips Global, and his delegation visited Xiaoyi and Pengfei for an observation and research visit, holding a symposium to discuss the development of the hydrogen energy industrial chain and cooperation on LNG energy supply. Attendees included leaders from the Shanxi Provincial Investment Promotion Bureau, Liu Shiqing, Deputy Director of the Standing Committee of the Lüliang Municipal People’s Congress and Secretary of the Xiaoyi Municipal Party Committee, Mayor Guo Qingzhi of Xiaoyi, Feng Guangyuan, Director of the Xiaoyi Economic Development Zone Management Committee, and Zheng Peng, Chairman of the Board of Pengfei Group.

At the symposium, Hu Kaicheng expressed his high appreciation for Pengfei’s outstanding achievements across the entire hydrogen energy value chain. He remarked that, upon visiting Pengfei Group, he was deeply impressed by the company’s profound corporate heritage and its ambitious vision—particularly in its strategic positioning and development within the hydrogen energy sector, where Pengfei has demonstrated exceptional foresight and execution. In light of the vast growth prospects of China’s hydrogen energy market, Hu Kaicheng emphasized that ConocoPhillips and Pengfei share aligned missions and aspirations, both committed to pursuing high‑quality, sustainable pathways in the transition to future energy systems and in advancing the “dual carbon” goals. During this visit, he expressed hope that, through collaboration with Pengfei, they could jointly explore the boundless potential of the hydrogen energy industry and achieve mutually beneficial, win‑win outcomes.

Liu Shiqing stated that the Xiaoyi Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government will provide full support for exchanges and cooperation between local enterprises and leading international companies, offering the most favorable policy framework and comprehensive service guarantees. He expressed the hope that ConocoPhillips of the United States and Pengfei Group will join forces to contribute to the energy transition and economic development of Xiaoyi, Lüliang, and Shanxi Province.

Zheng Peng expressed his sincere gratitude for the visit of Hu Kaicheng and his delegation, and engaged in in-depth exchanges and discussions with the members of the visiting group on topics including R&D investment in hydrogen‑energy manufacturing, the development trajectory of the green‑hydrogen industry, and the extension of the downstream industrial chain. Zheng Peng stated that Pengfei Group remains committed to the innovation and application of hydrogen‑energy technologies, and looks forward to forging broader and deeper collaborations with internationally leading companies such as ConocoPhillips in the same field, jointly fostering new‑type productive forces in the hydrogen sector and advancing the high‑quality development of China’s hydrogen‑energy industry.

Prior to the meeting, Hu Kaicheng and his delegation visited a series of sites, including the Urban Hydrogen‑Recharging Integrated Energy Island, the Pengwan Hydrogen Port Central Control Center, and the 5G‑Plus Central Dispatch and Command Management Center, to conduct on‑site observations and research, gaining firsthand insight into Pengfei’s rapid progress in industries such as hydrogen energy and 5G‑plus technology applications.
