On the afternoon of June 19, Chen Min’er, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Secretary of the Tianjin Municipal Party Committee, together with Zhang Gong, Deputy Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee and Mayor, warmly received Zheng Peng, Chairman of the Board and President of Pengfei Group, and held a symposium with distinguished guests attending the 2024 World Intelligence Industry Expo. Chen Min’er and Zhang Gong extended a warm welcome to all the guests for coming to Tianjin to attend the expo, expressing their gratitude for the longstanding attention and support they have shown toward Tianjin’s development. They urged everyone to continue to keep Tianjin in their sights, offer their support, and provide valuable insights and suggestions for the city’s work.

On June 20, the “Smart Mobility for a Better World, Empowering the Future” 2024 World Intelligence Industry Expo was held in Tianjin, co-hosted by the People’s Government of Tianjin Municipality and the People’s Government of Chongqing Municipality.

Chen Min’er, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Secretary of the Tianjin Municipal Party Committee, attended the opening ceremony and read out a congratulatory letter from Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee, President of the People’s Republic of China, and Chairman of the Central Military Commission. Xi Jinping pointed out that artificial intelligence is a key driving force behind the new round of scientific and technological revolution and industrial transformation, and will have a profound impact on global economic and social development as well as on the progress of human civilization. China attaches great importance to the development of artificial intelligence, actively promotes the deep integration of the internet, big data, artificial intelligence, and the real economy, fosters and expands intelligent industries, accelerates the development of new‑type productive forces, and injects fresh momentum into high‑quality development. China stands ready to work with all countries to seize the opportunities presented by digitalization, networking, and intelligentization, deepen international cooperation in AI development and governance, and strive to ensure the sound development of AI, boost global economic growth, and enhance the well‑being of people around the world.

In his address, Chen Min’er stated that General Secretary Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory letter to the expo, providing us with tremendous encouragement and inspiration. We will earnestly study and implement the spirit of General Secretary Xi’s letter, thoroughly carry out the guiding principles set forth in his important speech during his inspection of Tianjin, and simultaneously prioritize both technological innovation and industrial innovation. We will vigorously advance practical exploration in the field of artificial intelligence, accelerate the development of new‑type productive forces, and better harness these advances to drive high‑quality development and elevate living standards. We sincerely hope that, taking this expo as a new starting point, we can join hands with friends from all countries and across all sectors to seize the new opportunities of the intelligent era, pursue new avenues of smart‑technology cooperation, and jointly create a bright future for the intelligent economy.

Wan Gang, President of the China Association for Science and Technology, delivered a keynote address. Hu Henghua, Deputy Secretary of the Chongqing Municipal Party Committee and Mayor, Wu Chaohui, Vice President of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Mamutov Ravshan Aminatdinovich, Chairman of the Committee on Agriculture and Water Resources of the Legislative Chamber of the Supreme Assembly of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Liu Liehong, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Director of the National Data Administration, Long Teng, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Science and Technology, and Shan Zhongde, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, also addressed the event. Zhang Gong, Deputy Secretary of the Tianjin Municipal Party Committee and Mayor, presided over the session. At the invitation of the conference organizing committee, Zheng Peng, Chairman of the Board and President of Pengfei Group, joined more than 1,200 participants—including leading scholars in the global intelligent technology field, industry leaders, think tanks, and specialized media—on the occasion of the conference.
