Taking advantage of the vigorous momentum of Lüliang City’s “Land of Talents and Heroes: A Visit to Lüliang by Doctoral Scholars” initiative, on the afternoon of June 15, more than a hundred outstanding young doctoral researchers from 51 universities across 16 provinces and municipalities were drawn to Pengfei Group—Lüliang Province’s leading enterprise in the hydrogen energy industry chain—and its green, digital, and intelligent industrial ecosystem. They visited Pengfei to explore opportunities for collaborative partnerships and a shared future of mutual success.

The doctoral scholars attentively listened as they observed Pengfei’s development journey, industrial layout, technological innovation, and product R&D, gaining a close‑up sense of the unique appeal of Pengfei Energy’s full‑chain ecosystem. Throughout the various enterprise sites, they walked and explored, witnessing a solid industrial foundation, discerning promising growth trends, envisioning bright employment prospects, and recognizing ample room for future expansion. While applauding Pengfei’s achievements and progress, they also strengthened their confidence and motivation to pursue entrepreneurship and career opportunities. The scholars unanimously remarked: “My field is chemical engineering and technology; choosing to visit Pengfei Group was truly worthwhile.” “The technologies employed at Pengfei are so advanced—achieving not only industrial automation but also leveraging cutting‑edge innovations like 5G to empower and elevate the industry.” “I used to assume that traditional industries would have relatively low levels of intelligence, but my experience at Pengfei has been a delightful surprise. Here, technology and innovation are seamlessly integrated—this is what we call new‑type productive forces!” “Pengfei boasts a strong industrial base, attractive talent policies, and promising prospects. If an appropriate position becomes available, I’ll certainly strive to stay on board.”

In recent years, Pengfei has consistently integrated green and innovative development into the energy sector, comprehensively establishing a secure, environmentally friendly, technologically advanced, and highly efficient clean‑energy supply system and a modern industrial framework. In the areas of green energy development and digital‑intelligent transformation, the company has built a robust platform to “build the nest and attract the phoenix.”

The company has deepened its collaboration with universities, partnering with institutions such as Shanghai Jiao Tong University, North China University of Technology, China University of Mining and Technology (Beijing), and Taiyuan University of Technology to conduct research and development on core technologies. It has jointly established innovative platforms including a joint laboratory for fuel cell vehicle manufacturing technology, the Shanxi Provincial Key Laboratory for Advanced Carbon-Based Electrode Materials, a national key laboratory R&D center, and the Green Intelligent Coal‑Coke Chemical Industry Research Institute. A pilot‑scale test base covering 11 hydrogen‑energy R&D projects—spanning production, storage, transportation, and equipment manufacturing—has received approval from the science and technology authorities, providing a pilot‑scale platform for domestic and international hydrogen‑related R&D initiatives. This facility serves as a demonstration base for the commercialization of hydrogen‑energy technologies in Shanxi Province and a fertile ground for technological innovation. The company has also been approved to establish a national postdoctoral research workstation—the only private enterprise in Shanxi to receive such authorization—marking a breakthrough from zero in Lüliang City. Furthermore, it has forged strategic alliances with industry leaders—including China Unicom, Huawei, Tencent, and Zhejiang University Zhongkong—to develop six major digital‑intelligence application scenarios: smart mining, smart coal‑chemical processing, intelligent inspection, smart safety and environmental protection, zero‑carbon smart logistics, and smart operations management. Pengfei is the first enterprise in Shanxi to obtain DCMM certification and to be recognized by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology as a model industrial Internet enterprise. Three of its subsidiaries have been designated as benchmark enterprises for intelligent manufacturing in Shanxi Province, positioning the group as a leading exemplar of digital transformation in the industry.

In April 2024, riding the momentum of the “A Beautiful Journey to Shanxi” promotional campaign in Shanghai, we signed a cooperation agreement with Shanghai Jiao Tong University and the Xiaoyi Economic Development Zone to jointly establish the “Joint Research Center for Fuel Cell Commercial Vehicle Technology.” Fifteen doctoral researchers have since joined Pengfei, providing robust talent and intellectual support for the development of the hydrogen energy industry.

Pengfei will focus on three key areas—clean, low‑carbon utilization of fossil fuels and energy efficiency; hydrogen energy, renewable energy, and energy storage—continuing to increase R&D investment, strengthen and expand its platforms, intensify efforts to cultivate and attract top‑tier talent, deepen the integration of industry, academia, research, and application, accelerate the commercialization of scientific and technological advances, and drive high‑quality enterprise development.
