In early summer, Taiyuan is ablaze with the vibrant energy of all things. On May 7, a delegation from the International Chinese Association of Science, Technology and Industry paid a visit to Shanxi Province, holding a cordial symposium with representatives from relevant provincial departments and business leaders. Zheng Zihao, Vice President of Pengfei Group, joined industry experts and entrepreneurs—including Li Daxi, Chairman of the International Chinese Association of Science, Technology and Industry—to discuss the global landscape of the new‑energy sector and map out pioneering initiatives and even greater breakthroughs for Pengfei’s hydrogen‑energy business in technology, scale, and application scenarios.

During the symposium, Zheng Zihao reported on Pengfei Hydrogen Energy’s progress, highlighting the planned deployment of photovoltaic‑based green hydrogen projects integrated with hydrogen‑powered heavy‑truck logistics applications across various provinces and municipalities, as well as the status of hydrogen refueling station construction. Zheng Zihao noted that hydrogen energy, a key strategic emerging and future‑oriented industry in China, is accelerating its development. At present, Pengfei has made substantial advances in hydrogen‑related technologies and equipment; in particular, its hydrogen‑powered heavy trucks have undergone significant upgrades, delivering improved range, cost‑effectiveness, and durability. Nevertheless, within the broader hydrogen‑application value chain, several critical materials and core technologies still require breakthroughs.

Zheng Zihao hopes that academicians, experts, and entrepreneurs will visit Pengfei to engage in international cooperation and exchanges, gain a deeper understanding of how, after forging a new path for transformation and development, enterprises can leverage the thriving hydrogen energy industry to advance the implementation of the national energy security strategy, and offer valuable recommendations while injecting cutting-edge scientific and technological expertise.

Li Daxi, Chairman of the International Chinese Association for Science, Technology and Business, along with other experts from the delegation, expressed strong approval of Pengfei’s pioneering efforts in driving a new wave of energy transformation. They highlighted key technologies such as deep‑coal‑to‑hydrogen and nano‑material hydrogen storage, as well as promising projects like hydrogen‑powered aircraft and industrial digitalization. They noted that Pengfei demonstrates both innovative passion and capability, coupled with an international outlook and a bold vision to lead industry development, and urged both sides to strengthen international cooperation and exchange to advance the cause of energy transition for the benefit of society.

Wu Dongsheng, a second-level inspector with the Shanxi Provincial Development and Reform Commission, expressed his gratitude to the delegation for the cooperative projects and technology‑import initiatives they have helped facilitate in Shanxi over the years. He emphasized that he hopes the heads of relevant departments, bureaus, and enterprises attending the symposium will engage in in-depth exchanges with overseas science and technology experts and entrepreneurs, formulate a series of pragmatic, long‑term, and forward‑looking cooperation plans, advance industry development, bolster new‑type productive forces, and share the fruits of innovation with the entire society.
