Innovation drives transformation, and labor makes dreams come true. On May 7, Pengfei Group’s 2024 “Five Smalls” Innovation Achievement Selection and Exhibition concluded successfully. Zhang Yangling, Wang Xiaohua, and other officials from the Xiaoyi City Federation of Trade Unions, along with more than 200 representatives—including leaders of Pengfei Group’s “Five Smalls” innovation projects over recent years and cadres and employees—attended the event, jointly witnessing the remarkable “Five Smalls” innovations that have emerged in the development of a new‑era workforce of industrial workers at Pengfei.

Zhang Yangling pointed out that Pengfei Group’s “Five Smalls” innovation initiative is not only a grand celebration of innovation but also a vibrant exchange of ideas, fully demonstrating the enthusiasm and ingenuity of its employees while underscoring the Group’s unwavering commitment to innovation-driven development. She expressed the hope that all Pengfei employees will continue to adopt a problem‑oriented approach, uphold the spirit of craftsmanship, and benchmark against world‑class best practices. Meanwhile, the Municipal Federation of Trade Unions will leverage the “Five Smalls” initiative as a platform to foster learning and collaboration among workers, further advancing the reform of the industrial workforce and contributing the strength of the labor movement to writing a new chapter in Xiaoyi’s pursuit of Chinese‑style modernization.

Following preliminary collection and screening, a total of 20 innovative projects advanced to the finals and delivered outstanding presentations. In addition, this event introduced an innovative evaluation approach by incorporating, for the first time, a public‑voting component. Projects were assessed through a combined scoring system: on‑site questioning and scoring by a panel of expert judges, coupled with online voting by the public.

After a morning of intense competition, 11 “Five Smalls” innovation projects stood out and achieved outstanding results. The “Construction and Application of an Intelligent UPS Management System,” an innovation led by Tian Xiaoping from the methanol-to-hydrogen heat‑source plant project, was awarded first prize.

During the event, the leaders of the “Five Smalls” innovation projects presented and showcased Pengfei’s outstanding innovative achievements from recent years.

In the afternoon, leaders from the Xiaoyi City Federation of Trade Unions conducted an inspection and awarded plaques to Pengfei Group’s newly established Jie Dong Employee Innovation Studio and Shang Yang Jian Employee Innovation Studio. To date, Pengfei Group has a total of 15 employee innovation studios. The company will cherish this honor, seize the momentum, and fully leverage the leading role of its talent in tackling technical challenges, driving scientific and technological innovation, and enhancing production processes. By doing so, it aims to transform these innovation studios into powerful catalysts for advancing cutting-edge productivity, incubators for creativity and invention, and sources of motivation for employees, thereby inspiring industrial workers to play an even greater role in the wave of economic development and corporate innovation.

To provide frontline employees with opportunities for training, development, and growth, Pengfei Group annually organizes a “Five Smalls” innovation competition, attracting a cumulative total of 90,000 employee participants. Over the years, more than 12,000 innovative projects have been completed, generating economic value exceeding RMB 800 million, thereby achieving mutual progress—empowering employees to advance while helping the company reduce costs and boost efficiency. Moving forward, Pengfei Group will carefully review the innovative practices and best‑in‑class experiences gained from the “Five Smalls” competition, make full use of the trade union’s various platforms, and vigorously promote and publicize the initiative, ensuring that the “Five Smalls” competition becomes a distinctive, widely supported, and socially influential brand emblematic of the Group.
