Pengfei and Toyota discuss cooperation.

On July 2, Zheng Peng, Chairman of the Board and President of Pengfei Group, held a cordial discussion with Akira Akita, Executive Deputy General Manager of Toyota Motor (China) Investment Co., Ltd. and Executive Deputy General Manager of Huafeng Fuel Cell Co., Ltd., as well as General Manager of United Fuel Cell System R&D (Beijing) Co., Ltd., and Takayuki Yokoi, Director of Toyota Motor (China) Investment Co., Ltd. and Department Head at Huafeng Fuel Cell Co., Ltd. The two sides engaged in in-depth exchanges on collaborative efforts to develop hydrogen fuel cell systems, manufacture complete vehicles, and customize products tailored to Pengfei’s specific needs.

 

 

Takashi Akita outlined Toyota’s ongoing R&D efforts in the hydrogen fuel cell vehicle sector. He noted that, driven by continuous technological advancements, hydrogen fuel cells have seen significant improvements in power density, hydrogen‑tank weight, stack durability, and hydrogen consumption. Today, these technologies are widely deployed across commercial vehicles such as buses, trucks, and forklifts. He expressed hope for in-depth exchanges with Pengfei and for forging close, multi‑level, cross‑sector collaboration, leveraging Toyota’s cutting‑edge expertise to support China’s dual‑carbon goals.

 

 

Zheng Peng outlined Pengfei’s comprehensive industrial‑chain strategy in the hydrogen energy sector, highlighting its resource advantages and strong application‑scenario capabilities. He noted that Toyota and Pengfei enjoy a high degree of industrial synergy, expressing hope to leverage Pengfei’s strengths to attract Toyota’s technological expertise. By combining their respective competitive advantages, the two companies aim to build a cutting‑edge, highly secure hydrogen‑energy value chain—supported by superior energy sources, robust market access, and state‑of‑the‑art equipment—while accelerating the R&D, deployment, and commercialization of hydrogen fuel‑cell vehicles, thereby driving the healthy and rapid growth of the hydrogen economy.

The two sides also exchanged views on Pengfei’s zero-carbon smart logistics management platform, Toyota’s latest high‑power products, specific cooperation models between the two parties, and the application of Toyota’s advanced technologies.

 

 

Prior to the meeting, Akira Takashi and his delegation also paid visits to the Pengfei Hydrogen‑Recharging Integrated Energy Island, the Pengfei Coking Plant, the Methanol‑to‑Hydrogen Heat‑Source Plant, the Pengwan Hydrogen Port Central Control Center, and the 5G‑Enabled Central Dispatch and Command Management Platform, among other sites.
