On the joyous occasion of Pengfei Group’s 30th anniversary, the inaugural ceremony for the commissioning of the group’s first batch of hydrogen‑powered commuter buses and its first hydrogen‑fuelled loader was successfully held on the morning of May 15. This milestone marks another solid step forward in the application of hydrogen energy within the transportation sector at Pengfei Pengwan Hydrogen Port, presenting a meaningful gift to celebrate the group’s 30th anniversary.

Zhang Youquan, Deputy Secretary of the Party Working Committee and Deputy Director of the Management Committee of the Xiaoyi Economic Development Zone, along with Xiaoyi Vice Mayor Xue Zhiqiang and other leaders, attended the event, joined by Zheng Peng, Chairman of the Board and President of Pengfei Group, representatives from partner companies, and a delegation of Pengfei Group employees and cadres, totaling over 200 participants.

Zheng Peng In his address, he stated that the commissioning of the first batch of hydrogen‑powered commuter buses and the inaugural hydrogen‑fuelled loader represents another significant achievement for Pengfei in the hydrogen energy sector, making a positive contribution to the promotion of hydrogen‑powered buses and construction machinery and to improving air quality. The initial fleet of hydrogen‑powered commuter buses will primarily serve employees’ daily commutes, and their official entry into service marks the realization of zero‑carbon travel for Pengfei staff. Meanwhile, the first hydrogen‑powered loader—also the nation’s first—is designed for handling bulk materials at the plant, helping mines, coal‑mining operations, steel mills, and other enterprises transition to greener, lower‑carbon practices, truly achieving zero emissions and zero pollution.

Xue Zhiqiang It was pointed out that Xiaoyi City is aiming to build a hydrogen‑energy industrial base worth hundreds of billions of yuan, mobilizing the entire city and leveraging the Pengfei Pengwan Hydrogen Port Industrial Park as a platform to elevate the hydrogen‑energy sector to a new level. The commissioning of the first batch of hydrogen‑powered commuter buses and the inaugural hydrogen‑fuelled loader holds profound significance for optimizing the city’s transport structure and establishing a green transportation system. It is hoped that Pengfei Group will fully play its role as a leading “chain‑leader” enterprise in the hydrogen‑energy value chain, spearheading the large‑scale deployment of hydrogen‑powered heavy trucks and buses, and forging a hydrogen‑energy application service brand that is “greener, more environmentally friendly, and more efficient.” Xue Zhiqiang stated that the Municipal Party Committee and the Municipal Government will capitalize on their comparative advantages in resources, talent, and the business environment, continuously improve the investment climate, introduce a series of preferential policies to support the high‑quality development of the hydrogen‑energy industry, proactively provide services to remove bottlenecks and resolve challenges for enterprises, and do everything possible to advance project construction—thereby injecting fresh momentum and cultivating new competitive strengths as the city strives to become a premier hub for hydrogen‑energy industry development.
