On the morning of August 8, Xia Shuying, Secretary of the Party Working Committee and Director of the Management Committee of the Shiyan Economic and Technological Development Zone in Hubei Province, along with Wang Tao, Chairman of Hubei Shiji Zhongyuan Vehicle Co., Ltd., paid a visit to Pengfei Group for an inspection and research tour. They were received by Zheng Peng, Chairman of the Board and President of the Group.

Xia Shuying and his delegation visited the Pengfei Coking Plant, the centralized control center of the Pengfei Methanol Plant, the centralized control center of the Pengwan Hydrogen Port Hydrogen Energy Industrial Park, and the Beiyao Integrated Hydrogen‑Energy Island, gaining a comprehensive understanding of Pengfei’s end‑to‑end hydrogen‑energy industrial chain in coal‑coking chemical production. They then proceeded to Pengfei Group’s headquarters, where they toured the 5G‑enabled Central Dispatch and Command Center, watched a promotional video on the group, and learned about its achievements in 5G‑related project development.

Following the visit, Pengfei Group and the Shiyan Economic and Technological Development Zone held an exchange symposium. The two sides engaged in in-depth discussions on their next steps of cooperation, aiming to expand collaboration into broader areas.

At the outset of the symposium, Xia Shuying provided a detailed overview of the Shiyan Economic Development Zone’s basic profile and existing strengths, noting that the zone boasts the most comprehensive range of automotive components in China and is among the first batch of pilot demonstration parks in Hubei Province for the deep integration of modern services and advanced manufacturing. He expressed hope that, by leveraging Pengfei Group’s advantages in hydrogen‑production costs and application scenarios, and using Dongfeng Teke as a base while tapping into Shiyan’s local resources, the zone could strengthen its hydrogen‑energy industrial chain and inject new vitality from the private sector into Shiyan’s traditional industrial base.

Chairman Zheng Peng stated that all industries and products are subject to cyclical patterns, and whether a company can navigate these cycles is a crucial step toward sustained progress. Only by excelling in quality and refining its offerings can an enterprise secure a voice within its sector. As a well‑established industrial base with a complete supply chain, Shiyan risks stagnation if it fails to embrace the new‑energy transition. To propel the Economic Development Zone toward “economic doubling and leapfrog development,” it urgently requires the support of intelligent manufacturing, new‑energy technologies, and high‑end equipment manufacturing, thereby building robust momentum.

Going forward, the two parties will draft a framework agreement for an industrial park dedicated to hydrogen‑fuel‑cell vehicle manufacturing and engage in in-depth negotiations.
