Revisiting the glorious years and carrying forward the red heritage, on February 8, the Party General Branch of Pengfei Group organized more than a hundred Party members, cadres, and employees to watch the patriotic film “The Battle at Lake Changjin: Watergate Bridge.” This event also marked a special initiative by the administrative system—following the Pengfei Spirit Mobilization Conference—to inspire in everyone a deep sense of patriotism and loyalty to the enterprise.

“The Battle at Lake Changjin II: Water Gate Bridge” is set against the backdrop of the Chinese People’s Volunteer Army’s Ninth Corps, specifically the 7th Company, which carried out a daring infiltration mission to destroy the Water Gate Bridge—the critical crossing that U.S. Marine Division 1 had to pass through on its retreat during the War to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea. The film tells the moving story of how these volunteer soldiers endured unimaginable hardships—severe hunger, frostbite, scorching heat, and relentless bombing—and made tremendous sacrifices to secure victory.

Sitting in the cinema, time seems to fly by, for each soldier’s sacrifice unfolds in a single instant of artillery fire; yet it also feels agonizingly slow, as every frame is a blossoming of the military spirit.

“The 7th Company was supposed to have 157 men, but only one showed up,” a line that brings tears to the eyes; the complete sacrifice of the 9th Company is even more heartrending. Despite the vast disparity in weaponry between the two sides, our fallen heroes still forged a new spiritual Great Wall with nothing but their bare bodies and flesh.

The harder the battle, the more we must fight! The patriotic spirit we draw from films must be put into practice by loving our company and our work, contributing our wisdom and strength with our youth and sweat to ensure Pengfei’s continued prosperity—growing stronger day by day, year after year.

As the film draws to a close, all Pengfei employees rise in solemn silence, paying tribute to the revolutionary martyrs who gave their lives defending the motherland. Snowflakes swirl and fall, evoking the faces of those soldiers as the narrative gently unfolds the turmoil of that year—brave charges, steadfast defense of our homeland, and the enduring legacy of our people’s heroes!
