On September 6, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce and the China Enterprise Confederation released the “2022 Top 500 Chinese Enterprises” list. The entry threshold for the ranking was RMB 44.625 billion, up RMB 5.389 billion from the previous year. The Group ranked 264th with operating revenue of RMB 86.196 billion, advancing 90 places compared to last year.
On September 6 and 7, the “2022 Top 500 Chinese Enterprises,” “2022 Top 500 Chinese Private Enterprises,” “2022 Top 500 Chinese Manufacturing Enterprises,” and “2022 Top 500 Chinese Private Manufacturing Enterprises” lists were successively released. Pengfei Group achieved a significant leap in its ranking, securing the top spot among Shanxi-based private enterprises on all four lists.
This year’s “2022 China Top 500 Enterprises” was jointly released by the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce and the China Enterprise Confederation. In the rankings, Pengfei Group secured 264th place, while also making the lists at 96th in the “Top 500 Chinese Private Enterprises,” 121st in the “2022 Top 500 Chinese Manufacturing Enterprises,” and 53rd in the “2022 Top 500 Chinese Private Manufacturing Enterprises”—all marking the highest ranking among Shanxi‑based private firms. Notably, Pengfei Group ranked 96th among the national top 500 private enterprises, and this is the first time in nearly a decade that a Shanxi‑based company has broken into the top 100 of China’s private enterprise list.
This year marks the 21st consecutive year that the China Enterprise Confederation has released the “Top 500 Chinese Enterprises” list, a publication that has documented and witnessed the steady growth and expansion of Chinese enterprises since the beginning of the 21st century. The list reveals that this year’s entry threshold stands at RMB 44.625 billion, up RMB 5.389 billion from last year. Total revenue surpassed RMB 100 trillion for the first time, an increase of 14.08% over the previous year—the largest annual rise in the past decade. Moreover, this year saw the largest absolute increase in the entry threshold since the list’s inception, with 51 companies making their debut or returning to the ranking, intensifying competition for positions.
