On January 21, Zhang Peng, General Manager of the Domestic Business Department of China Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC), along with Wang Min, Hydrogen Energy Business Development Manager for the Industrial Division in Greater China at TÜV SÜD, paid a visit to Pengfei for an inspection and exchange.
Zheng Peng, Chairman of the Board and President of Pengfei Group, hosted the visit and convened a joint symposium for both sides.
Zhang Peng outlined CMEC’s core business, its guiding development philosophy, and its significant strengths in areas such as early‑stage project planning, resource integration, project management, project implementation, and establishing relationships with government entities in more than 150 countries and regions worldwide. He also provided an analysis of domestic and international market trends amid the ongoing pandemic. He stated that, under the new development paradigm characterized by a dominant domestic circulation and mutually reinforcing domestic–international dual circulations, CMEC is “stabilizing its overseas operations while cultivating the domestic market,” actively conducting market research and currently enjoying robust business performance. Meanwhile, Pengfei, as a private enterprise, has boldly ventured into the hydrogen energy sector, proactively advancing project implementation; its forward-thinking and visionary approach are both admirable and inspiring. It is hoped that, leveraging the Pengwan Hydrogen Port Hydrogen Energy Industrial Park project, CMEC and Pengfei will join forces to expand globally and achieve mutual success in the years ahead.
Wang Min shared an overview of Germany’s—and the world’s—current hydrogen‑energy development strategies, along with the latest technological advancements and emerging trends. Starting from General Secretary Xi Jinping’s vision of peaking carbon emissions before 2030 and achieving carbon neutrality before 2060, he emphasized that green hydrogen represents the future trend. He further noted that Pengfei’s philosophy of “daily innovation, monthly progress” aligns with internationally advanced development principles, and that the company’s well‑integrated industrial chain, comprehensive hydrogen‑energy system, and self‑owned power plant all bode well for its growth prospects. He expressed confidence that Pengfei will be among the first to reach peak carbon emissions.
Chairman Zheng Peng outlined the developmental advantages of Pengfei’s hydrogen energy industry, covering both hydrogen production and utilization. He noted that hydrogen is regarded as the “ultimate energy source” of the 21st century. The Pengwan Hydrogen Port Industrial Park project leverages coke oven gas as feedstock to produce high-purity hydrogen at low cost and with exceptional purity, and has now become a demonstration base for hydrogen energy in central Shanxi Province and across the entire province, integrated into the “14th Five-Year Plan” of provincial, municipal, and county governments. In terms of hydrogen applications, Pengfei will take its fleet of heavy-duty trucks for internal use as a starting point, expanding its reach throughout Shanxi and beyond to establish a comprehensive hydrogen energy industrial chain and drive domestic economic circulation. He stated that the Pengwan Hydrogen Port Hydrogen Energy Industrial Park project boasts unparalleled advanced features, forward-looking vision, and demonstrative value on a national scale. He expressed the hope that Pengfei will engage in deep cooperation with CMEC and Nand Group to establish a Pengfei‑specific hydrogen energy standards framework, enhance the core competitiveness of the hydrogen energy industry, and accelerate the timely implementation and realization of hydrogen energy projects.
Subsequently, the two parties engaged in discussions on business cooperation models and potential areas for collaboration.
Prior to the meeting, Tian Zhenguo, Vice President of the Group, Chief Project Commander, and General Manager of the Engineering Project, along with Ma Xiaolong, Assistant to the President, accompanied the visiting leaders on a tour of Pengfei Coking Plant, Pengfei Methanol Plant, the Pengwan Hydrogen Port Hydrogen Energy Industrial Park project site, the Pengfei Multimedia Exhibition Hall, and the 5G+ Intelligent Central Dispatch and Command Management Center. Chairman Zheng Peng’s forward‑looking strategic planning, pragmatic implementation, and the nation’s largest intelligent control platform drew repeated expressions of admiration from the visiting leaders, who all remarked that they had gained immensely and felt the trip was well worth it.
