On April 13, Liu Zhenguo, Secretary of the Party Group of the Standing Committee of the Lüliang Municipal People’s Congress, paid a visit to Pengfei for an inspection and research tour.

Liang Zhiyong, Member of the Standing Committee of the Lüliang Municipal Party Committee and Secretary of the Xiaoyi Municipal Party Committee; Wang Tinghong, Deputy Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee and Mayor; Li Diansheng, Director of the Standing Committee of the Municipal People’s Congress; and Yan Xiangjue, Vice Director, accompanied the inspection. Zheng Peng, Chairman of the Board and President of Pengfei Group, extended the welcome.

After touring Pengfei’s 5-million-ton coking production base and its methanol‑to‑LNG integrated production facility, Liu Zhenguo and his delegation visited Pengfei’s Methanol‑LNG Integrated Control Center, where they gained an in-depth understanding of the company’s development history, its asset scale, and its closed‑loop, full‑cycle, end‑to‑end industrial chain—spanning coal mining, coal washing, coking, and chemical processing.

Chairman Zheng Peng explained in detail that Pengfei operates the world’s largest, state-of-the-art 6.25-meter three‑section heated coke oven, which has been further upgraded with desulfurization and denitrification facilities. As a result, its current emission standards far exceed the national ultra‑low‑emission benchmarks. From coke oven gas to liquid methane (LNG), methanol, synthetic ammonia, and ultimately hydrogen, Pengfei has significantly enhanced the comprehensive utilization of coke oven gas. Moving forward, the company will continue to intensify the development and deployment of hydrogen energy resources, taking a leading position nationwide and establishing a closed‑loop hydrogen industry chain.

Liang Zhiyong stated that Pengfei has clear visions and well‑laid plans for projects across the hydrogen‑energy value chain. The company is currently collaborating with the U.S.–based GCES to develop and harness hydrogen resources, spanning everything from hydrogen fuel cells to hydrogen‑powered vehicles. Pengfei has already initiated discussions with automotive manufacturers, starting with its own fleet of hydrogen‑fuelled coal‑transport trucks, and aims to establish a foothold in Xiaoyi while expanding its reach to Lüliang, Shanxi Province, and ultimately the entire country.

Liu Zhenguo expressed his approval of the development direction of Pengfei’s hydrogen energy project, noting that such projects require cutting-edge technology and top-tier talent. He emphasized that Pengfei must comprehensively balance cost and range while remaining vigilant against potential pitfalls. After learning that Pengfei’s production facility has largely adopted an advanced “four‑no” management model—no accidents, no pollution, no waste, and no inefficiency—he underscored that automation does not equate to zero risk, urging the company to place utmost importance on safety. He also expressed hope that, even amid the pandemic, Pengfei will demonstrate responsibility and take decisive action, contributing to economic and social development.
