Han Xia, president of the Shanxi Alumni Association of Universities Outside the Province; Wang Qingsheng, president of the Tsinghua University Shanxi Alumni Association; and Zheng Peng, chairman of the board of Pengfei Group, also attended and addressed the gathering.

At the symposium, Academician Sun Hongbin delivered a keynote address titled “The New‑Generation Energy Internet: A Supporting Platform for a New Energy System.” This marked his first public academic presentation in Shanxi since being elected an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. He shared cutting‑edge insights on the evolution of the energy internet—from “physical interconnection” toward the integrated convergence of four flows—energy, matter, information, and value—highlighting that the energy transition is a systemic undertaking that requires seamless interconnection and complementary synergy among diverse energy sources, thereby enabling the construction of a new‑generation energy internet. The true value of the energy internet lies in tailoring localized energy networks to regional conditions, fostering wide‑area coordination between renewable and fossil energy, and ultimately extending into every sector of the economy—precisely the core pathway for Shanxi’s development as a national hub for a new, comprehensive energy system. Drawing on Pengfei’s practical experience, he underscored the principle “No dual carbon without Pengfei,” asserting that real‑world application scenarios are the critical foundation for translating research findings into tangible outcomes. He further commended Pengfei’s exploration of a full hydrogen‑energy industrial chain as a benchmark practice—one that is both challenging and right—in the broader energy revolution.

In the presence of all attendees, Pengfei Group signed strategic cooperation agreements with Tsinghua University’s Shanxi Alumni Association, the Shanxi Provincial Energy Internet Research Institute, and Qingzhong Technology Co., Ltd. Leveraging Pengfei’s extensive industrial application scenarios and the Tsinghua ecosystem’s robust research and innovation capabilities, the parties will jointly establish a collaborative community of industry, academia, research, and application that is open, co‑constructed, and sustainably symbiotic.
